I had a recent project over the weekend that was a great example of using a dyno to show the value of upgrades and tuning. A customer brought in a 68 Chevy Chevelle, with a GMPP ZZ502 crate motor. He felt that the car was lethargic and not performing up to specs. We did a baseline run on the Mustang MD-150 chassis dyno and found that it was down about 75hp from advertised. That you will feel! After performing a complete exhaust upgrade replacing factory manifolds with Holley Performance Hooker Headers and a performance exhaust system from Pypes Exhaust, the car made another 70 horsepower! Further tuning of the fuel delivery system picked up another 25 HP for a total gain of 95 HP! The customer was thrilled to say the least! Not only were we able to find the lost power and get the car to make MORE than the advertised rating, but we were also able to demonstrate the value of each step!
