GM AFM/DOD Delete

Customers contact us wanting to know if we can perform a Displacement on Demand (DOD) or Active Fuel Management (AFM) delete on GM vehicles. The short answer is Yes, but often times it doesn't make sense for us to do it. Just because we can doesn't mean we should and here's why!

We use HP Tuners for tuning on GM vehicles. Prior to 2015, the licensing fee per vehicle/VIN is $100. About 2015 and on, that licensing fee has increased to $200-300 depending on the year and model. The licensing just gives us the ability to tune the vehicle/do the work. We haven't done anything yet.

If this is all you're looking to do, and you don't require any additional tuning, there's a better option.

Do a quick online search for AFM disabler and find one that works for your vehicle. These solutions are around the same price, depending on the brand and you simply plug it in. Plus, if you ever need factory service work done on your vehicle, you can simply unplug it, and your ECM had not been altered. Altering an ECM can void warranties and create factory service issues.

There are solutions out there from Holley and other vendors ranging from $60 - $250+. We don't recommend or support any specific product. Just do your homework like any other purchase and choose a reputable brand.

At Truth Dyno and Performance, we're not only passionate about vehicles, but also helping our customers with the best solution for their vehicle. We would rather earn your trust than sell you a service when there are better options available!
